While the police investigation remains ongoing, the Sydney Swans have taken separate internal disciplinary action. Five players were stood down by the club for the remainder of the season after it was discovered they had been drinking and inviting women to their hotel room, violating team protocols. In addition to the club's decision, the AFL has imposed its own sanctions on the involved players, specifically barring them from consideration for All Australian honors.
