The group brings together a diverse set of stakeholders, including AI technology companies, private equity firms, and labor unions, to address the growing demand for digital infrastructure.

The alliance’s primary objective is to establish regulatory guardrails and industry standards for data centers by 2027. By proactively engaging with state and local officials, the coalition hopes to demonstrate a commitment to responsible growth, thereby discouraging local governments from enacting moratoriums on new construction projects. The group has identified seven states for its initial lobbying and advocacy campaigns: Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and South Carolina.

While the coalition frames this as a collaborative effort to ensure sustainable infrastructure, the move highlights the tension between the rapid expansion of AI-driven computing power and the concerns of local communities regarding energy consumption and land use.
