The company is seeking to determine if both individual consumers and corporate clients are willing to pay for advanced AI-driven productivity features.

According to listings on the Apple App Store, the Qwen app now features three distinct membership tiers. The entry-level annual plan is priced at 200 yuan, which converts to approximately US$29.60. For users requiring more robust capabilities, the company offers higher-tier plans, with the flagship version priced at 1,499 yuan (roughly US$220). In addition to the base subscription tiers, the platform allows users to purchase supplemental credits for specific features, such as video generation, which are often resource-intensive for AI models.

This move represents a broader industry trend where major technology firms are transitioning from free-to-use AI research models to revenue-generating products. By gating specific tools behind a paywall, Alibaba is positioning QwenWork as a professional-grade office utility rather than just a general-purpose chatbot.
