An Australian Member of Parliament remains in critical condition following an incident where she was struck by a vehicle outside her office. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed the public regarding the event, confirming that the incident is being treated with high priority by law enforcement.

While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have engaged counter-terrorism units to determine the nature of the attack. At this stage, officials have not released the identity of the driver or specific details regarding a potential motive. The involvement of counter-terrorism investigators suggests that authorities are examining whether the act was targeted or politically motivated, though no official confirmation of a terrorist designation has been provided to the public as of yet.

Emergency services responded to the scene immediately, and the MP was transported to a hospital for urgent care. The Prime Minister expressed shock at the event, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation to ensure the safety of public officials. Further updates are expected as the police continue to process evidence from the scene and interview witnesses.
