Bose has officially begun rolling out support for Auracast, a Bluetooth-based audio-sharing technology, to its flagship QuietComfort Ultra Headphones Gen 2. The new functionality is being delivered through a firmware update and is currently categorized as a beta feature. This update also enables Bluetooth LE Audio, a standard that aims to improve power efficiency and audio quality compared to traditional Bluetooth connections.

Auracast allows a single audio source to broadcast to multiple receivers simultaneously, which is often utilized in public spaces for accessibility or shared listening experiences. While Bose is a major player in the audio market, it is joining a relatively small group of manufacturers that have implemented this technology. Other companies currently offering Auracast support on select products include Sony, JBL, Samsung, and Sennheiser.

Bose has indicated that this is the first step in a broader rollout, with intentions to bring Auracast capabilities to more of its headphone and earbud lineup in the coming months. The update is specific to the Gen 2 version of the Ultra headphones, which retail for $449. As the technology is still in the beta phase, users may experience varying performance levels as the company refines the implementation.
