Citigroup has appointed Sophia Wang as a managing director and head of China financial-institutional sales and senior relationship management. According to an internal staff memo, Wang officially joined the bank on Tuesday and is based in the Shanghai office. In this new role, she is tasked with overseeing institutional sales coverage across a range of financial products, including foreign exchange, commodities, rates, and spread products.

This appointment represents a strategic effort by Citigroup to strengthen its presence in mainland China. The move comes as Wall Street firms continue to navigate a complex environment characterized by ongoing geopolitical friction between the U.S. and China.
