New Delhi is currently undergoing a transition toward electric mobility as part of a government-led effort to combat the city's severe air pollution. In affluent areas of the capital, charging stations are seeing increased usage from a variety of vehicles, including scooters, trucks, and cars. This shift is a key component of India’s strategy to phase out internal combustion engines in one of the world's most polluted urban centers.

Despite the visible growth in infrastructure, the transition faces significant logistical hurdles. According to local EV users, the current density and availability of charging stations are not yet sufficient to support the city's ambitious environmental goals. Marketing executive Shyam Singh, who operates an electric two-wheeler, noted that the existing facilities are "not up to the mark," highlighting a gap between the government's clean air policy and the daily realities faced by EV owners. While the city continues to promote the adoption of electric vehicles, the infrastructure development has not kept pace with the needs of the growing user base, leading to concerns about the long-term viability of the current phase-out timeline.
