Delhi Police have successfully raided an illegal call center operation suspected of orchestrating a massive financial fraud scheme targeting individuals in the United States. According to investigators, the perpetrators impersonated FBI officials to intimidate victims into transferring funds, often demanding payment via gift cards to avoid detection and ensure the anonymity of the transactions. The total proceeds from the scam are estimated to be around Rs 100 crore.

During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a significant amount of evidence, including 29 laptops, 25 mobile phones, eight routers, and an SUV. Additionally, police recovered Rs 41 lakh in cash from the premises. Authorities stated that the operation was sophisticated, utilizing technology to mask their locations and bypass international security protocols. The investigation is ongoing as police work to trace the full extent of the network and identify further accomplices involved in the cross-border criminal enterprise. While the primary focus remains on the financial scale of the operation, officials have noted the difficulty in recovering funds once they have been converted into gift card credits, which are frequently liquidated by criminal syndicates shortly after the initial fraud occurs.
