Beginning October 1, the Delhi government is set to implement a strict 'No PUC, No Fuel' policy across the National Capital Region. This initiative requires vehicle owners to present a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) before they are permitted to refuel their vehicles. The policy is part of a broader effort to curb vehicular emissions and improve air quality in the region.

To ensure the policy is followed, authorities have announced that the rule will be enforced in 'mission mode.' The government has equipped approximately 500 fuel stations with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. These cameras will track vehicles entering the stations, allowing officials to verify the status of a vehicle's pollution certificate in real-time. Fuel stations that fail to comply with the new mandate or allow vehicles without valid documentation to refuel face potential regulatory action. While the government frames this as a necessary step for environmental health, the logistical impact on daily commuters and the potential for long queues at petrol pumps remain points of public concern as the deadline approaches.
