Wang Jibing, a 57-year-old delivery rider who gained public attention for writing poetry on scrap paper while working, has received one of China’s most prestigious honors, the Lu Xun Literary Prize. The award, named after the influential modern Chinese writer Lu Xun, recognized Wang in the poetry category for his third collection, titled 'Low Flight.'

Wang has become a notable figure in Chinese media, often referred to as the “delivery rider poet.” His work frequently draws from his experiences navigating the city to deliver food, capturing the daily realities of life for China’s massive gig-economy workforce. Despite the prestige associated with the award, Wang has stated that he plans to continue his work as a delivery rider. He described his approach to his dual life as a delivery worker and a poet by comparing himself to “a river that quietly flows.”
