Billy Mak Sui-choi, an associate professor at Baptist University, noted that no single nation currently dominates the entire AI supply chain, which creates ongoing opportunities for Hong Kong’s trade sector. Because of this sustained international appetite for AI infrastructure, experts believe that Hong Kong’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth for the year could potentially outperform the government’s current official forecasts. While the report highlights a positive outlook for the trade sector, it emphasizes that the durability of this growth is tied directly to the pace of global AI development and the ability of local exporters to maintain their position within the supply chain. The analysis focuses on the macroeconomic benefits of the tech boom, suggesting that the city is well-positioned to capitalize on the digital transition currently reshaping global trade patterns.
