A married couple in their 70s is in police custody following the fatal shooting of Jonathan McKinsey, a 40-year-old engineer for The New York Times. The incident occurred in a public park in Dublin, California, a city located approximately 35 miles east of San Francisco.

According to official statements from the city of Dublin, a police officer discovered McKinsey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds while patrolling the area. Simultaneously, local emergency services began receiving multiple 911 calls from witnesses who observed the shooting. Despite the arrival of emergency responders, McKinsey was pronounced dead at the scene.
