Following a comprehensive revision of the electoral rolls in Delhi, the Election Commission has announced the removal of 4,756,722 names from the voter list. According to official data, the deletions were categorized into three primary groups: individuals who have shifted their residence or were otherwise unavailable, duplicate or multiple registrations, and deceased persons.

The largest portion of the removals, totaling 4,332,775 entries, involved voters who were found to have moved away or could not be located during the verification process. Additionally, 282,412 names were removed due to the voters being deceased, and 141,535 entries were deleted because they were identified as duplicates or registered in multiple locations simultaneously.

This significant reduction in the voter base has drawn political attention, with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal publicly commenting on the development. While the Election Commission maintains that these revisions are a standard administrative procedure to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll, the scale of the deletions has prompted questions regarding the impact on upcoming electoral participation.
