Eurometal, a major European trade organization, has issued a stark warning that the manufacturing sector in the European Union could lose 300,000 jobs throughout 2026. The group attributes this potential decline to the rapid expansion of Chinese component manufacturers, which they argue are effectively 'colonizing' European supply chains.

According to the industry body, China currently maintains a record trade surplus with the EU, amounting to approximately €1 billion per day. Eurometal contends that this imbalance is unsustainable for domestic producers who struggle to compete with the scale and pricing of Chinese imports. To draw attention to these concerns, the organization has scheduled a protest at the European Commission headquarters in Brussels. The demonstration will feature a procession of 10 symbolic coffins, each labeled with messages intended to highlight the perceived death of European industrial capacity.

While the industry group is calling for immediate intervention from Brussels, the report highlights a growing tension between European industrial interests and the current state of global trade. The protest serves as a direct appeal to policymakers to implement measures that would curb the influence of foreign manufacturers within the bloc's internal market.
