On Wednesday morning, a fire occurred at a flat in Yan Chuen House, located within the Shui Chuen O public housing estate in Sha Tin. Authorities received reports of the incident at 6:48 a.m. after thick smoke was observed emanating from a mid-rise unit.

According to police reports, the fire originated near the family's television stand. The four residents inside the apartment initially attempted to extinguish the flames themselves but were unsuccessful. They subsequently evacuated the premises. Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after the report and managed to fully extinguish the fire by 7:10 a.m.

In total, about 140 residents from the building were evacuated as a safety precaution. The four family members were transported to a hospital for treatment. While the immediate cause of the fire has been identified as starting at the TV stand, investigations into the specific circumstances of the ignition are ongoing.
