Health officials have traced the source of the infections to broccoli sprouts that have since been subject to a recall.

According to federal health data, there are currently 22 confirmed cases of salmonella infection across four states. Of those affected, two individuals have required hospitalization due to the severity of their symptoms. As of the latest update, no deaths have been attributed to this specific outbreak. Washington state has been identified as a primary area of concern, though the investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the full scope of the distribution and potential for further illnesses.

While the FDA has confirmed the link between the sprouts and the illnesses, the investigation is still in its early stages. Authorities are advising consumers to check their refrigerators for any recalled sprout products and to avoid consuming them if they match the recalled batches. The agencies involved are continuing to monitor case reports to see if the outbreak expands beyond the currently identified states.
