At least eight people have died following flash floods that swept through mountain valleys in Nepal. According to reports, the flooding originated in Tibet before surging across the border into the Himalayan nation’s districts.

Visual evidence, including videos shared by the Nepal Police and local residents on social media, depicts large volumes of muddy water moving rapidly through narrow mountain passes. The force of the water has resulted in the destruction of several villages, washing away homes and infrastructure in the affected areas.

While the immediate cause of the surge has been identified as originating in Tibet, authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage to determine the full scope of the humanitarian impact. Search and rescue operations are underway to locate missing persons and provide aid to those displaced by the sudden deluge. The geographical nature of the region, characterized by steep mountain valleys, has complicated relief efforts, as access to the most severely impacted villages remains difficult.
