In a recent incident, a customer reported finding a rat inside an ice cream freezer at a Blinkit facility in Thane. This follows earlier reports of cockroach infestations at other locations in Mumbai. These findings have prompted state food safety authorities to intensify their oversight of the storage and handling practices used by quick-commerce companies. While these platforms have revolutionized grocery delivery by promising goods in minutes, the recent discoveries have raised questions about whether the speed of the business model is coming at the expense of basic sanitation and cold-chain integrity.
