The Indian cricket landscape is currently debating the potential return of veteran fast bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami to the national setup. A former chief selector has publicly advocated for their inclusion, suggesting that their experience could be a significant asset to the team’s current bowling attack.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, known for his ability to swing the ball, has recently seen renewed interest regarding his international status. Simultaneously, the conversation has shifted toward Mohammed Shami, whose fitness and form remain focal points for selectors. While the former selector has made a strong case for their comeback, there is no official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding their immediate selection. The debate highlights a broader tension in Indian cricket between prioritizing younger talent for long-term development and relying on proven veterans for immediate performance stability. As of now, the selection committee has not issued a formal response to these suggestions, leaving the future of both players in the national squad uncertain.
