Gordon Tang Kwong-tai, a 22-year-old technician employed by the MTR Corporation, recently secured a victory at the WorldSkills Competition held in Shanghai. The competition, which focuses on vocational excellence, required participants to undergo three days of rigorous testing centered on diagnosing and repairing complex railway system faults.

Tang, who has worked for the MTR for four years, described the experience as a significant professional milestone. He noted that competing against international peers provided him with new perspectives on technical maintenance and troubleshooting. Following his return to Hong Kong, Tang stated his intention to apply the specific insights and methodologies he developed during the competition to his ongoing responsibilities within the MTR’s maintenance department.
