The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce released its annual Asian Cities Internationality Index on Thursday, placing Hong Kong at the top of a list of 11 major Asian cities. With a score of 74.6 out of 100, Hong Kong outperformed its regional competitors across seven key metrics, which include innovation and the exchange of ideas.

According to the report, Hong Kong’s lead over Singapore has grown significantly, expanding to two points compared to a 0.2-point margin in previous assessments. While the index highlights Hong Kong's strengths in international connectivity and idea generation, the study also identifies specific areas where the city faces challenges. Notably, the report indicates that Hong Kong still trails other regional hubs in attracting technology-focused investment. The index serves as a barometer for how these cities integrate into the global economy, measuring their openness to international talent, capital, and cultural exchange.
