The 40th edition of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) has ranked Hong Kong as the premier financial hub in Asia for the fourth consecutive year. On a global scale, the city secured the third position, trailing behind London and another unnamed financial center. The report highlights a highly competitive environment among the world's top-tier cities, noting that many leading financial hubs experienced a marginal decrease in their overall scores.

Analysts attribute these slight score fluctuations to ongoing geopolitical headwinds that are impacting global markets. Despite these challenges, Hong Kong’s score of 756 reflects its continued stability and relevance in the international financial landscape. The gap between the top-ranked cities remains narrow, with Hong Kong sitting just one point behind London’s score of 757. The index, which is published twice a year, continues to serve as a benchmark for assessing the competitiveness of global financial centers based on various factors including business environment, human capital, and infrastructure.
