HP is shifting its entry-level gaming laptop strategy by replacing the Victus 15 with the new HyperX Omen 15. The Victus 15 previously served as a primary budget option for gamers, often retailing for approximately $800. The new Omen 15 aims to provide a more premium experience, incorporating hardware improvements such as an RTX 5050 Laptop GPU capable of running current titles, albeit at lower graphical settings.

Beyond internal components, the Omen 15 includes several quality-of-life upgrades compared to the outgoing Victus model. These include a brighter display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a higher refresh rate, as well as an upgraded 1080p webcam intended to improve performance for non-gaming tasks like video conferencing.

Despite these improvements, the transition marks a departure from the strictly budget-focused positioning of the Victus line. The Verge notes that the Omen 15 is a "tough sell" for those specifically seeking the low entry price of the previous model, suggesting that while the machine offers better features, it no longer occupies the same accessible price bracket that made the Victus a bestseller.
