The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in New South Wales is currently examining allegations involving Charles Perrottet, the brother of former Premier Dominic Perrottet. During Monday’s proceedings, lawyers assisting the commission alleged that Charles Perrottet shared sensitive information, including a secret pocket recording of a government minister, with former Liberal MP and staffer Chris Spence in 2021.

According to the allegations presented to the commission, the sharing of this material was part of an effort to assist fugitive property developer Jean Nassif in achieving specific political goals. Chris Spence, who testified at the hearing, confirmed that he received the audio recordings from Charles Perrottet. However, Spence stated that he did not have knowledge of any broader plans or intentions Charles Perrottet may have had at the time the recordings were shared.

The inquiry is focused on determining the nature of the relationship between these individuals and whether the sharing of such "dirt" constituted an attempt to improperly influence government processes. The proceedings remain ongoing as the commission continues to gather testimony regarding the potential intersection of private interests and political decision-making within the state government.
