External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently participated in a meeting with representatives from the Visegrád Group—comprising the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia—to discuss deepening international cooperation. During these talks, the four European nations formally expressed their support for India’s candidacy for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Beyond the UNSC bid, the meeting established a framework for more consistent diplomatic engagement. Both sides agreed to initiate annual meetings between their respective foreign ministers to ensure ongoing political alignment. Furthermore, the nations committed to enhancing economic collaboration, specifically through the creation of an Annual Business Forum designed to facilitate trade and investment between India and the V4 countries.
