Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has stated that the semiconductor manufacturing plant located in Dholera, Gujarat, is on track to produce its first wafer by 2028. The facility, which represents a significant investment in India's technological infrastructure, is part of the government's push to reduce reliance on imported chips and bolster domestic electronics manufacturing capabilities.

The Dholera project is one of several semiconductor initiatives currently being developed under the India Semiconductor Mission. The timeline provided by the minister suggests that the plant is progressing through its construction and equipment installation phases. While the semiconductor industry is notoriously capital-intensive and subject to complex supply chain requirements, the government maintains that the 2028 target is achievable.
