The Indonesian government, through the National Collective Management Organisation (LMKN), has issued a formal demand to Netflix regarding unpaid music royalties. The agency, which is government-supported and tasked with overseeing the nation's royalty collection system, estimates that the streaming giant owes roughly 75 billion rupiah, or approximately US$4.3 million.

According to the LMKN, this debt has accrued over the past ten years, dating back to when Netflix first launched its services in Indonesia. The agency has signaled that failure to settle these outstanding payments could result in the platform being shut down within the country.

While the LMKN has publicly stated its position, Netflix has not yet provided a detailed public response to these specific allegations or the threat of service suspension. The situation highlights ongoing tensions between international digital streaming platforms and local regulatory bodies regarding intellectual property rights and royalty distribution frameworks in emerging markets. As of now, the dispute remains centered on the LMKN's calculation of the debt and Netflix's compliance with local copyright collection mandates.
