Copenhaver had been receiving medical care following injuries sustained during the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Allegheny County medical examiner confirmed the death, which follows the earlier passing of Corey Comperatore, who was killed at the scene of the shooting. Copenhaver was one of two attendees critically injured during the incident, which also resulted in the death of the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, by Secret Service agents.
