According to official reports, 265 out of 358 talukas—the administrative subdivisions of the state—have met the criteria for drought classification. This declaration is based on the state’s 'Trigger-1' drought framework, which is activated when a region experiences a rainfall deficit exceeding 25 percent, coupled with a dry spell lasting at least 21 consecutive days.

This classification system is designed to allow the state government to initiate relief measures and resource allocation for the affected areas. While the declaration confirms the severity of the weather conditions, the immediate impact on agricultural output and local water security remains a primary concern for state officials.
