Matt Fitzpatrick, currently ranked world No. 4, has publicly questioned whether he will defend his title at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai later this year. The English golfer expressed significant reservations about competing in the Middle East due to the ongoing regional conflict. Fitzpatrick stated that he believes the tour should consider moving the events to a different location, describing such a decision as a “no-brainer” given the current geopolitical climate.

Beyond his personal concerns, Fitzpatrick criticized the DP World Tour’s leadership for being “very vague” regarding their contingency plans for the season-ending tournaments in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. He suggested that the tour’s hierarchy may not be prioritizing player concerns in their decision-making process. To support his argument for caution, Fitzpatrick noted that Formula One is reportedly reconsidering the viability of staging the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. As of now, the DP World Tour has not issued a formal response to Fitzpatrick’s public comments, nor have they confirmed any changes to the tournament schedule.
