The National Security Guard (NSG), India’s elite counter-terrorism force, has officially launched its inaugural all-women commando training course. The program, which takes place at the NSG training facility in Haryana, is designed as a rigorous 12-week curriculum.

According to the NSG, the objective of the course is to transform selected female participants into highly capable commandos. The training focuses on three primary pillars: physical endurance, technical proficiency, and operational tactical skills. By integrating women into these specialized combat roles, the NSG aims to expand its operational capabilities and diversify its elite response units.

While the announcement highlights the intensity of the training, the NSG has not yet released specific details regarding the number of participants or the criteria used for selection. The initiative marks a significant shift in the traditionally male-dominated composition of the NSG’s special operations teams. The program is expected to conclude after three months of intensive instruction, at which point the successful candidates will be eligible for deployment in high-stakes security operations.
