Nvidia founder Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su have officially joined the advisory board of the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University in Beijing. The university is widely considered one of China’s most prestigious academic institutions and serves as a significant hub for connecting international business leaders with high-level Chinese government officials.

The appointments come at a time of heightened geopolitical sensitivity regarding the semiconductor industry. Both Nvidia and AMD are currently navigating complex U.S. export controls that restrict the sale of high-end artificial intelligence chips to China. The advisory board role is expected to provide these executives with a platform for ongoing engagement within the Chinese market, despite the cooling of technological cooperation between Washington and Beijing.

In addition to Huang and Su, the university appointed Marc Pictet, a senior managing partner at the Swiss wealth management firm Pictet Group, to the board. While the appointments highlight the continued interest of global tech leaders in maintaining ties with China, the move arrives amid ongoing scrutiny from U.S. regulators regarding the influence of American firms in the Chinese tech sector.
