Gerry Hunt, a prominent figure in the Somerset village of Pill, has died at the age of 82. Hunt began his teaching career in 1966 at Pill primary school before moving to positions at Yeo Moor school in Clevedon and Perry Court in Bristol. He served as the headteacher of Colston’s primary school—now known as Cotham Gardens—starting in 1987. Following his retirement from the education sector in 2001, Hunt remained active in his local community, notably serving as the chair of the Pill parish council.

Separately, Catherine Webb has passed away at the age of 47 due to metastatic ovarian cancer. A graduate of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, Webb began her career at the UK Treasury in 2000. During her tenure, she held significant roles, including assisting ministers through the 2008 financial crisis and the Brexit process. She eventually rose to the position of director of operations, where she oversaw the non-policy functions of the department. At the time of her death, she had returned to her alma mater, Emmanuel College, to serve as its bursar.
