Following recent Houthi-led attacks on Saudi Arabia, the Pakistani government has clarified its position regarding its regional defense commitments. Foreign ministry spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan confirmed on Thursday that Islamabad is not currently discussing a military response under the terms of a recently signed trilateral pact involving Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

The agreement, which was finalized in Mecca, includes pledges of mutual defense against military aggression. Despite the existence of this pact, Khan indicated that Pakistan’s involvement is not automatic or immediate. During a weekly media briefing, he stated that there is no active discussion regarding military deployment at this time, though he noted that Pakistan would fulfill its obligations under the agreement if and when circumstances require it.

The clarification comes amid heightened regional tensions following the attacks. While the trilateral pact signals a strengthening of security ties between Islamabad, Riyadh, and Ankara, the Pakistani government appears to be maintaining a cautious approach, emphasizing that any decision to act would be contingent on future developments rather than an immediate reaction to the recent strikes.
