Karp’s remarks come in the wake of a significant shift in French intelligence operations; the DGSI, France’s internal security agency, recently moved away from Palantir’s platform in favor of a domestic alternative, ChapsVision.

This transition highlights an ongoing tension between data sovereignty and technological efficiency. French officials have prioritized the use of domestic providers to ensure that sensitive intelligence data remains under local control, free from the reach of foreign jurisdictions. Karp, however, contends that such regulatory barriers stifle innovation and leave European companies at a disadvantage compared to their global peers. He suggested that by prioritizing protectionism over the best available tools, European nations are ultimately hindering their own economic and technological growth. While the French government views the move to ChapsVision as a necessary step for national security, Karp maintains that the broader regulatory environment in Europe is creating an unnecessary divide that prevents the adoption of more advanced, albeit foreign-developed, software solutions.
