Wilem Frischmann, a structural engineer recognized for his significant contributions to London’s architectural landscape, has died at 95. Throughout his career, Frischmann was noted for his technical innovation and his ability to realize complex, large-scale designs. He gained widespread professional acclaim for his long-standing partnership with the modernist architect Richard Seifert.

Among his most notable projects were Centre Point, a 34-storey structure located at the eastern end of Oxford Street, and the NatWest Tower, now known as Tower 42. At the time of its completion, the NatWest Tower stood at 600 feet, holding the title of the tallest building in Europe. These projects were pivotal in establishing Frischmann’s reputation within the engineering community, as they required overcoming significant structural challenges associated with building high-rise towers in London’s specific geological and urban environment. His work is frequently cited as a defining influence on the city's transition toward a modern, high-rise skyline during the mid-to-late 20th century.
