According to reports citing the official Wafa news agency, an Israeli drone strike hit a shelter for displaced persons in southern Gaza, resulting in injuries to four individuals, including two children. One of the injured is reported to be in serious condition. Separately, Israeli forces reportedly wounded two other Palestinians southeast of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

These incidents occur against the backdrop of a broader mortality report released by the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza, the first such official document since 2022. The data indicates that 24,650 deaths were recorded in 2025, with 70.1 percent attributed to Israeli military attacks. The report also highlights a significant rise in child mortality, noting that the death rate for children under five more than doubled, climbing to 33.4 per 1,000 live births in 2025, up from 13.6 in 2022. When excluding war-related deaths, the ministry calculated the under-five mortality rate at 15.8 per 1,000 live births. Heart disease was identified as the second-leading cause of death, accounting for 7.7 percent of the total recorded fatalities.
