Shaun Edwards, widely regarded as one of the most successful defence coaches in rugby union, has officially joined the Argentina national team. The appointment marks a significant addition to the Pumas' coaching setup, with Edwards committing to the role until the conclusion of the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which is set to be hosted in Australia.

Edwards brings extensive experience to the Argentine side, having previously served in high-profile coaching roles with teams including Wales, France, and various English clubs. His defensive systems are often credited with transforming the physical and tactical discipline of the teams he oversees. By securing Edwards, Argentina aims to bolster its defensive structure as it prepares for the upcoming international cycle leading up to the next World Cup.

While the announcement confirms the duration of the contract and the specific role, details regarding the integration of his defensive philosophy into the existing Argentine coaching structure have not yet been fully disclosed. The move is viewed by industry analysts as a major coup for the Argentine Rugby Union, as they look to build on their recent competitive performances on the global stage.
