A commercial tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting waters off the coast of Oman, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The incident occurred approximately 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima.

Following the impact, the vessel’s company security officer confirmed that the projectile penetrated the engine room, resulting in the ship being left 'not under command.' This status means the vessel is unable to maneuver under its own power.

Regional authorities, including the coast guard, have been notified of the incident. Despite the damage to the ship's propulsion systems, the UKMTO reported that there were no injuries among the crew and no environmental impact, such as oil leaks, has been detected at this time. The UKMTO has issued an advisory to other vessels operating in the region, urging them to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to maritime authorities. At this stage, the origin of the projectile remains unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for the strike.
