According to sources familiar with the situation, Tesla engineers and officials are evaluating the capabilities of specific suppliers to ensure they can meet the technical and volume requirements for the robot's global launch, which is expected later this year.

The companies identified for these audits include Zhejiang Sanhua Intelligent Controls, which specializes in heat-control components, as well as auto parts manufacturer Ningbo Joyson Electronic and chassis producer Tuopu Group. These suppliers have previously worked with Tesla on its electric vehicle production, and the current audits are intended to determine their suitability for the more complex requirements of humanoid robotics. By leveraging its existing supply chain in China, Tesla hopes to expedite the rollout of the Optimus project, which CEO Elon Musk has positioned as a central component of the company's future growth.
