David Owori, a prominent figure in Ugandan football who captained Sports Club Villa and played for the national team, died on Tuesday night after being attacked in Kampala. According to Racheal Kawala, a spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred when unidentified individuals attempted to rob Owori of his mobile phone and other personal items.

Reports indicate that Owori resisted the robbery, leading the attackers to strike him with paving stones. Passersby discovered the footballer unconscious at the scene and transported him to a local hospital. He was subsequently moved to a second medical facility, where he was pronounced dead. While police have confirmed the sequence of events leading to his hospitalization, the investigation into the identities of the attackers remains ongoing.
