The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has released figures indicating a shift in the distribution of British foreign aid under the current government. According to the data, the UK’s total Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget for 2025 has decreased to 0.44% of gross national income (GNI), a decline from the 0.5% recorded in 2024. This represents a total reduction in aid spending of approximately £987 million.

Within this broader reduction, the data highlights a specific impact on the world's most vulnerable economies. Funding directed toward the least-developed and low-income countries fell by 6.7%, a total decrease of £118 million. Conversely, the figures suggest that the proportion of aid allocated to higher-income countries has seen an increase during the same period.
