The map identifies the regions of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as territories caught between what it designates as the “Indian line” and the “Chinese line.” This move highlights the complex and long-standing geopolitical friction between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, who have engaged in multiple border standoffs and diplomatic disputes over these exact territories for decades.

Arunachal Pradesh is administered by India as a state, but is claimed by China as “South Tibet.” Conversely, Aksai Chin is administered by China as part of its Xinjiang and Tibet autonomous regions, but is claimed by India as part of the union territory of Ladakh.
