Renewed military engagements between Yemeni government forces and Houthi rebels have led to a significant surge in internal displacement. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the number of displaced individuals reached nearly 86,000 as of Sunday, marking an increase of approximately 10,000 people in a single 24-hour period.

IOM Director General Amy Pope emphasized the humanitarian toll of the crisis, noting that many of the displaced families have been forced to abandon their homes on multiple occasions throughout the conflict. The agency highlighted that behind the statistical data are families who have lost their livelihoods and possessions.

In addition to the displacement crisis, separate reports have emerged regarding the human rights situation in areas recently captured by Houthi forces. Documentation indicates that more than 900 rights violations have occurred following the entry of Houthi fighters into cities along Yemen's western coast. While the IOM focuses on the logistics of migration and the immediate needs of the displaced, the reports of rights violations suggest a broader instability affecting civilian populations in contested territories.
